The DITF Denkendorf - Management Research (DE) is the leading centre for textile and clothing management research in Europe. Their experience is being shifted towards multi-stage activities with other sectors like the automotive and aerospace industry because of the increasing partnering activities of textile companies in these areas. DITF-MR was acting as cluster coordinator in the TERESA project, chaired by EURATEX, and it has coordinated several major textile management related research projects in the Brite Euram, GROWTH and the IST Programme of the European Union. Because of the fact that DITF is one of the German research centres for collaborative industrial research, most of the research projects are performed in close cooperation to industrial partners, both SMEs and Large companies. Fields of current research cover Innovation and Knowledge Management, Supply Net Management, Quality and Life Cycle Management, all aspects of E-Business, E-Learning and the various aspects of organisation of networks (Smart Organisations) like trust management, security etc. The applied research is based on System Theory, Cybernetics, Informatics and Information Management, Operations Research and Management Research. A major part of this is the adaptation and transfer of knowledge and more sophisticated methodologies already applied in High Tech sectors to the more traditional and fragmented sectors in order to create clusters of high value production and cross sectorial cooperation.
