INTEXTER-UPC is a University Research Centre of the Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC). It is closely related to textile machinery constructors with whom it maintains some research agreements and, also, to textile production enterprises. Approximately 40% of INTEXTER'S budget is financed by industrial research projects. INTEXTER and the University UPC have numerous infrastructures and resources (human and material) to coordinate European Projects, as well as a long experience as coordinators and managers (as it has been detailed in the previous point). INTEXTER has a broad experience in the research of spinning, weaving and knitting processes. Industrial (technical) fabrics and antipollution technologies are new research lines, lately incorporated to the usual tasks of INTEXTER. The main part of the research carried out lies in the processing analyses and optimisation and quality assurance. Research activities are concentrated in the development and application of special measuring techniques to analyze and optimize the textile processes in general. One of the strategic objectives of INTEXTER is to maintain the policy started years ago to apply and enhance the latest measurement techniques in the study and improvement of the textile processes. In this project, INTEXTER can provide its consolidated experience in the conventional and non-conventional spinning processes, and the development of mathematical models based on vision recognition. In addition, INTEXTER has the human and technical resources (electronic and mechanical workshop and computing services) to perform the tasks given in this project. For the support to Artificial Intelligence tasks, the KEMLG-UPC (Knowledge Engineering and Machine Learning Group) of the UPC will carry out the A.I. related tasks. It is a European-level expert research group in A.I. systems development and automation implementation, Therefore they will perform the A.I. related tasks inside INTEXTER-UPC. |
